Have you been thinking about freshening up your window treatments?

Here are a few ideas for using some things you may even have lying around the house.

Country Style Curtains

Does this room already contain a lot of country style decorations, antiques, and rustic artifacts? Some older objects that may not even qualify as antiques may be just what you are looking for.

  • An old wooden or broom handle as a drapery rod.
  • Ideally a plaid curtain, or even just some plaid fabric, could be paired with it.
  • An old iron spur could replace a store-bought tie-back.

How to Create Ethnic Home Decor

Ethnic Furniture

Adding ethnic home accessories into your current home decor can dramatically change the look and feel of your home. Even a single, unusual centerpiece on a coffee table will make your decor a topic of conversation and change the look of the entire room. Of course, if you have money to burn your choices are limitless - but if money is tight, no problem! You don’t have to spend a fortune to redecorate with an ethnic theme.

Ethnic Decorations

Ethnic decor pieces can be found in all kinds of unexpected places. You’ll find them in specialty furnishing stores and on the web, but often some of the best treasures are from garage sales and thrift stores. Look for unique textures that catch the eye - woven, carved, or molded knick knacks will make a big statement, as will fabric that is embroidered, dyed, or sewn by hand.
